Hi sirisha , in my mom's rasam powder she includes sufficient pepper (miriyalu) and dry red chillies . It produces more than sufficient karam and gatu .

Rasam powder recipe:-In below recipe measure can be anything either a cup or a spoon.

U'll need 1 measure of toordal/kandi pappu , 3 measures of coriander seeds/dhaniyalu , 1 measure of peppercons/miriyalu , 1 measure of cumin seeds / jeelakarra , 1 measure of fenugreek seeds /menthulu , 1 measure of broken dry red chillies , include some asafoetida/inguva , and fresh curry leaves that r washed and dried.
u can put all these ingridients under hot sun or dry fry in pan and grind it in mixcy . Store this in air tight container and use in rasam .For every 250ml of water that i use in rasam i add 1tspn of rasam powder.
we use this powder in making tomato rasam , tamarind rasam , mango rasam , nimma rasam .

    -Cheers,
