MOONGDAL MASALA KICHIDI


SERVES : 2 ADULTS





INGREDIENTS REQUIRED :-

Rice : 3/4 glass (1 glass = 250ml)

moongdal : 1/4 glass

oil : 1 tbspn

ghee : 1 tbspn

cardamoms : 3

cloves : 3

cinnamonstick : 1" piece.

Black pepper : 1/2 tspn

bay leaves : 2

green chillies : 3-4

curry leaves : 10

onion : 1

ginger garlic paste : 1/2 tspn

potato : 1

carrot : 1

salt : 2 tspns

turmeric : 1/4 tspn (optional)

coriander powder : 1/4 tspn

garam masala powder : pinch

water : 2 glasses

coriander leaves : few strigs

PREPARATION :-

  • Take a bowl and mix raw rice and moongdal . wash them and pour just less than 2 glasses water.

  • Chop onion , greenchillies , potato , carrot.

  • Put ready all the spices.

  • Heat a strong bottomed skillet or electric cooker.

  • Add oil and ghee. After 2 mins add whole garam masalas including black peppers & Bayleaves .

  • Add green chillies , curry leaves .

  • After chillies r done add onions and ginger garlic paste.

  • After rawness vanishes add all the vegetables except tomato.

  • Add 1/2tspn salt, When they r half done add tomato.

  • When tomato becomes mushy add garam masala , coriander powder. mix well.

  • Add rice and water mixture.

  • Add remaining 1 & 1/2tspn salt , turmeric (optional), chopped coriander leaves.

  • Let this boil nicely.

  • After this stage dont try to stir it. put lid and when air holes appear put flame in sim and after 2 mins switchoff stove . open the lid only after 10 mins.

  • Tasty & spicy moongdal masala kichidi is ready to serve.
