BHENDAKAYA PULUSU / OKRA IN TAMARIND PASTE




INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:

Ladies fingers : 10
Tamarind : 3 cloves
onions :1
urad dal, cumin seeds, mustard seeds : 1/4 tspn
red chilly : 2
fenugreek seeds powder : one pinch
hing : one pinch
curry leaves : 10
coriander leaves : 3 strings
coriander powder : 1/4 tspn
jaggery : little
oil : 2tspn
water : 250ml/ 1 tumbler
chillypowder :1/4 tspn




PREPARATION:

  • Chop ladies finger / okra into 1 inch pieces.
  • chop onions length wise
  • Heat a pan or bowl. add oil, urad dal, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, dry red chillies, methi powder, asafoetida, curry leaves, onions, chopped okra. fry till half done.



  • Now add tamarind paste,jaggery,salt,chillypowder,turmeric, coriander powder .Fry well and after okra is fully cooked add 250ml water.


  • let it boil for 15 mins.atlast add coriander leaves.


  • u can have this directly or with mudda pappu / dal.
  • if u want pulusu to be sour ,add little jaggery. if u want it to be sweet add more jaggery.
  • bendakaya pulusu is now ready to serve with mudda pappu and hot rice.

    my rating for this receipe is 5 for 5...maa husband ki chala nacchindi...especially with mudda pappu...but naaku tamrind rasam entha veyyalo teliyaledu..so kastha pulla ga vundi but will make it better next time..
