Palakura Kura / Spinach Curry

Serves : 2


Ingredients :-
Spinach : 1 bunch
Onion : 1 small
Tomato : 1 Plum
Green chillies : 2
Curry leaves : 1 sprig
Ginger garlic paste : 1/4 tspn
Oil: 1tbspn
Dry red chillies : 2
Cumin : 1/4 tspn
Turmeric : 1/8 tspn
Salt : 1 tspn
Chilly powder : 1/4 tspn
Coriander powder : 1/4 tspn
Garam masala : 1/4 tspn
Coriander leaves : 3 sprigs

Preparation :-
  • Clean 1 bunch of spinach and chop finely.
  • Chop onion , tomato , green chillies and freshly pound ginger garlic paste.
  • Heat a pan add oil and when hot add dry red chillies , cumin seeds , green chillies and curry leaves . Once they are fried add onions and pinch of salt and fry till golden brown.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and turmeric and fry for 2 mins.
  • Add chopped spinach and fry till done . Cook covered.
  • Once spinach is cooked add salt , chilly powder , coriander powder and garam masala powder and mix nicely.
  • Add chopped tomato and cook covered till tomato turns mushy.
  • Finally add coriander leaves and switch off stove.

  • Serve it with rice or rotis.

    Preethi..I tired this today and it has comeout good. I didn't add tomato instead added Tamarind.

    Hi preethi. Nice recipe. But we should not use tomato and palak combination. Most of the people don't know it and they will use it. But this combination is risk factor for kidney stones. Better avoid tomato with palak dear. You can add milk to it.
