Kandhi Pachadi / Toor Dal Chutney



Ingredients:-

Toor dal : 1/2 rice cooker cup
Dry red chillies : 3
Garlic : 1 pod
Cumin seeds : 1/2 tspn
Tamarind : 2-3 pods
Coconut: 2 tspn
Salt : as required

Ingredients for Talimpu:-

Oil : 2 tspn
Cumin seeds : 1/4 tspn
Mustard seeds : 1/4 tspn
Asafoetida : pinch of
Curry leaves : 1 sprig

Preparation:-
  • Heat a pan and add 1 tspn oil , add toor dal , cumin seeds , dry red chillies and fry on medium flame till dal turns its color and then switch off stove. Add coconut , garlic pieces and enough salt. Let this cool.
  • Soak tamarind.
  • Grind fried items and tamarind with little amount of water.
  • Put talimpu with the above listed ingredients and mix with chutney.
  • serve it with hot rice and ghee.

    All the recipies are very useful ...what I like most is that they come in handy in the day to day life......but one thing missing is the shelf life.....kindly mention how long can the preparation be stored.......

    I was googling for Semya Pulihora recipe and found your blog. Kandhi Pacchadi is one of my fvrt dish and never used coconut in it! I will definitely try this recipe and let you know how it turned out :-)
